While we're in the same place for the next few months we've invited guests to contribute to There & Here by telling us what they love about their favourite place in the world. Our guest this week is Corinne from Auckland, New Zealand.
What I love about Devonport is I can call it my wā kainga (home).
I’ve designed a typographic poster that highlights and locates the essence of what makes Devonport my favourite place. The poster is bilingual, in light of Matariki (Maori New Year) and recent research into my iwi and genealogy. As much as I love to travel and have been to some amazing places, there really is no place like home. I’ve been fortunate to call this small maritime village my home for the past six years, when my musician partner joined the Navy. Devonport is a creative hub with a great community vibe that is strengthened by the presence of the Navy. I’m very lucky to be surrounded by beaches, history and art, and get a great coffee or wine!
Corinne (Cor-reen) is a graphic designer for a large public organisation in New Zealand. Her passion project is Design Assembly, where she sporadically blogs, and works with the founder to take care of community development and event facilitation for the local professional community of visual designers. She lives in Auckland with her navy musician partner Moses and their cat Oscar. She is a lover of: cats, travel, Leonbergers, good food and wine, chair dancing and all things arty and crafty.... and then there is her not so secret shame of reality tv…
