While we're in the same place for the next few months we've invited guests to contribute to There & Here by telling us what they love about their favourite place in the world. Our guest this week is Di from Hoedspruit.
What I love about Holland is that Holland gave me my husband.
His first words were in Dutch, his first steps were on Dutch soil and discovering the environment that shaped him means I learn more about his friends, his family and who he is now.
Some of my favourite things from Holland are:
bicycles
windmills
water
historical architecture
rain
frost
tulips
There are many other places I love too: Mapungubwe, the Mphongolo Wilderness Area, the Tankwa Karoo, Kariba, the Kgalagadi, Matopos, the Okavango, Santa Maria, Mkuze…They couldn’t be more different to Holland and they represent the life we’ve chosen together.
Di is a freelance writer who is based in a wildlife estate in Hoedspruit where, one day, her and her husband will build their house. She loves it for its beauty, its peace and its warm winters.
