Sarah Morgan-Bergeron - What I love about my cubbyhole/office

June 29, 2012

While we're in the same place for the next few months we've invited guests to contribute to There & Here by telling us what they love about their favourite place in the world. Our guest this week is Sarah who lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.

What I love about my cubbyhole/office is that it’s all mine.

Perhaps it’s selfish but after years of moving flats, traveling, changing towns, new friends, new jobs, I craved stability. For some people, that might come in the form of a loving person or a good job. Luckily for me I have all of those things, but sometimes it’s not enough. In order to stay creative and sane, you need something that is yours, a little corner of the world. This is mine.

Who doesn't love a good ampersand?

It’s not big, or shiny or fancy, but it is entirely my own. The chair I found, painted and re-covered (it was £5 at a charity shop). I saved up the money to buy my iMac (significantly more than the chair). I made that curtain so I didn’t have to look at the hoover. I planted my terrarium, another little world for me to peer into and forget to water. It might not be my dream loft studio but for now, it’s fabulous.

I won’t let these ones die, I promise. What happens when they out grow the bowl? I won’t be able to get them out.

Sarah Morgan is a displaced Canadian who now lives just outside of Edinburgh with her boyfriend and every other weekend, his two fantastic kids. It’s all very scary and grown up. During the day she is a digital marketer, by night and weekends she champions informal wedding photography with her own business, Morgan & Rose Photography. Apparently, she also loves croquet.
